Sugar daddy Bristol: the honest local guide
Bristol is a smaller pool than Birmingham in our October sample, and better paid at the top on our editorial bands. The professional quarter around Temple Quay and the Harbourside puts the big law firms and the Hargreaves Lansdown and Lloyds offices within a walk of the old city bars, Filton adds aerospace salaries, and two universities keep the sugar baby side young and numerous. Clifton keeps its money quiet, and Bath is twelve minutes away by train. SugarDaddyMeet has been matching UK sugar daddies and sugar babies since 2007.

Who Bristol's sugar daddies are
Bristol's sugar daddies are mostly the professional layer between Temple Meads and the Harbourside: partners and senior associates at Burges Salmon and Osborne Clarke, the Lloyds Banking Group floors on Canons Way, the Hargreaves Lansdown building on Anchor Road. Regulated, salaried money with a partner-track culture, so the men read a document before they sign it. Most live in Clifton or Redland.
Around that core sit two other Bristol crowds. Engineering money at Filton, where Airbus, Rolls-Royce and GKN pay senior engineers and programme managers more than people assume of a city known for street art. Then the tech and creative end: Graphcore, the agencies around the Watershed and Paintworks.
The Filton men drive in from Thornbury and the Chew Valley and are steady. The creative crowd is livelier and less able to promise a budget for a year ahead.
What Bristol lacks is depth. On 3 October 2026, 14 of 1,003 UK women and 11 of 1,006 UK men in our Gallery sample had Bristol on the card, against 25 women and 15 men in Birmingham. Each count stops near 1,000 cards. A sugar baby with a narrow filter can run out of new profiles inside a month. The trade-off: the men here are settled and fantasy pricing is rare.
On 3 October 2026, 14 of 1,003 UK women and 11 of 1,006 UK men in our Gallery sample had Bristol on the card. The women's sample median was 28 and the men's was 40. There is no age split for the city, and each count stops near 1,000 cards.
How to read a Bristol profile
- Bristol's money postcodes are BS8 and BS6. Clifton Village, the streets off Whiteladies Road and the Redland side of Cotham are where the professional crowd lives. A profile that puts itself "off Whiteladies" can walk to a date in the Village.
- Two universities keep the sugar baby side young. Bristol and UWE spread students across BS6, BS7 and Frenchay, so the average age is lower and competition heavier than the city's size suggests. Daddies should check the photo verification badge and that the age field reads 20 or over.
- Firm names are checkable in Bristol. "Partner at a Temple Quay law firm" or "engineering lead at Filton" narrows to a short list of employers, solicitors are on the Law Society register in a minute, and company directors are on Companies House. A profile that will not say which side of the city it works on is hiding something smaller.
- Wapping Wharf and the Downs are the Bristol lifestyle tells. Locals talk about North Street in Southville, a table at Wapping Wharf, the Downs on a Sunday. Yacht talk and a skyline shot lifted from a hotel listing are the fakes.
- Commuter profiles are often the steadiest in Bristol. Portishead, Thornbury and Bath bring older money and a slower rhythm. A profile that mentions the M32 at rush hour or the last train to Bath Spa plans the month rather than the evening. What to put in your own profile is in the profile guide.
First dates in Bristol, by budget
The low-key meet
Small St Espresso at 23 Small Street, opposite the Crown Court, is Bristol's old-city standard and ten minutes on foot from Temple Quay. Full Court Press on Broad Street is quieter with more seats. For the harbour, Little Victories at Gaol Ferry Steps turns into a wine bar from Wednesday evening, useful if the coffee goes well. All three were open when we checked in October 2026.
The proper drink
The Milk Thistle at Quay Head House on Colston Avenue is Bristol's statement bar: four floors of a historic building, a door you knock on, and award-winning cocktails. For a room rather than a bar, The Ivy Clifton Brasserie on Caledonia Place carries drinks on into dinner without moving. The old-city bars around Corn Street cover most budgets; who books and pays is in how a first date is arranged.
The statement dinner
Bulrush at 21 Cotham Road South is Bristol's Michelin-starred choice, open and running a tasting menu around £90 a head before wine when we checked in October 2026. Wilsons on Chandos Road in Redland is the other choice, a small farm-to-table room with its own market garden. Expect to pass £100 a head at either once wine is in. Book weeks ahead: Bristol's restaurant map moves quickly.
How much does a Bristol sugar relationship cost?
A Bristol sugar relationship costs £500 to £1,000 a month at the modest end and £1,000 to £1,750 a month once established, on our editorial estimates as of October 2026. Nationally, our 2026 research puts modest at £500 to £1,000 and established at £1,000 to £2,500, so Bristol sits in the lower half, close to Birmingham and below London. Clifton money goes higher, but rarely says so in a first message.
- Modest£500 to £1,000 a month, the Bristol norm
- Established£1,000 to £1,750 a month in Bristol; £1,000 to £2,500 nationally
- Not permittedPay-per-meet, online-only and short-term set-ups
For sugar babies, that is a figure you can plan a term around rather than a spectacular one, agreed in a message or two because the men here have read the numbers first. An allowance handed over freely is a gift rather than pay, and the rules HMRC applies to the giver are on GOV.UK's guidance on gifts. The exceptions are in the UK tax guide.
For daddies, the budget goes further than in the south-east. How to put the figure in a first message is in our guide to finding a sugar baby.
Is Bristol safe for sugar dating?
Bristol is safe for a first date in the old city, around Wapping Wharf and in Clifton Village, and riskier once the harbour path empties towards the Cumberland Basin after dark. The towpath is no place to walk alone late. Stokes Croft stays lively into the small hours, good for a crowd and poor for a quiet exit. Clifton Village is calm and near taxis.
Meet at the venue itself, in the old city or Clifton Village, not "by the water" or "at Temple Meads". With a student pool this large the age gap cuts both ways, so write terms down early. The general rules live in our FAQ.
SugarDaddyMeet profiles go through photo verification, plus email and phone checks on new profiles, and review is usually one working day, as of October 2026. Anyone asking for money before a first meeting is fraud: report it to Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
